Mynd Retail / Format Concepts
The format follows the shopping task.
Explore four format concepts for different ways of shopping: everyday convenience, discovery, collection and a connected hybrid.
Compact everyday / format concept
A focused everyday range gives shelf space a clear purpose. Categories need to be visible from the entrance, replenishment routes should avoid the main customer path, and the range should explain what is deliberately outside its scope.
Discovery-led / format concept
A considered purchase benefits from room to compare. Edited displays, visible specifications and a place to ask questions are more useful than visual abundance alone. The operational brief needs to account for demonstrations, fragile items and replacement parts.
Collection point / format concept
A collection-led space is organised around reliable handover rather than browsing. Identification, waiting, accessibility, exception handling and privacy matter. A parcel shelf is not a collection system if the customer cannot understand what to do when something is missing.
Hybrid / format concept
A mixed browsing and fulfilment space needs to make both journeys clear. Customers should not have to infer whether an item is take-away, display-only or available for collection. Picking activity must fit the customer-facing environment instead of taking it over.
